June 6th, 2021 (OTTAWA, ON) – Following the devastating news of a mass grave of 215 children found in BC:

On May 27th, 2021, Chief Rosanne Casimir, of the Tk’emlups te Secwépemc First Nation, made the grim and crushing announcement that a mass grave of 215 children was found at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. We at OCH mourn the loss of these young lives and stand in support of Indigenous and First Nations communities. This news adds itself to the long list of injustices continually faced by the Indigenous community. We recognize that this news may be more than just painful to some and therefore would like to encourage our community members to seek out support, either from the community itself or professionally. Those seeking resources can find them here.

– Stéphane Giguère, CEO, Ottawa Community Housing Corporation
